What we believe…
Our values at Redeemer Church Saltash
We’re often asked what kind of church are you? What do you believe? These are good questions. The short answer is that we are an evangelical charismatic church, and we love the gospel, the good news centred on the person of Jesus Christ. As a church, we’re part of the Evangelical Alliance, and we wholeheartedly agree with their Statement of Faith.
The longer answer is that as an evangelical church, the Bible is our highest authority. It is in the pages of Scripture we learn most about God, and through the words of the Old and New Testaments that God speaks to us - it is “living and active” (Hebrews 4:12) Evangelical means good news, and as such Jesus, God the Son, is good news; God’s eternal Word became flesh, became human in Jesus, and it is through Jesus that we can encounter God. It is through Jesus’ life, death and resurrection alone that salvation can be found, salvation being forgiveness of our sins or wrongdoing and reconciliation with God.
As a charismatic church, we also believe that God the Holy Spirit is actively at work in the church today. We believe that anyone who is a Christian, who has asked for the forgiveness of sin and a new start in Christ, receives the Holy Spirit to help them walk this new life. The Spirit does this by giving gifts to people for use in the church, and we want to see everyone using these gifts in our church gatherings and as they grow as a Christian.
If you want to find out more about all this, why don’t you come and join us one Sunday? We’d love to meet you and welcome you home, introduce you to the family, and maybe see you start your own faith adventure.
